EmailOur Work for Education for Peace
The education process and its content are not value free and neither are the resources the Peace Pledge Union provides.
The value that underpins our material is the beliefs that nonviolence is better than violence; that building a culture of peace should be a priority and a part of this process is both to question and to challenge our easy acquiescence in a culture of violence.
Education for peace means different things to different people (what is peace after all). In our case it implies a process whereby people, especially young people, are helped to an understanding that a resolution of conflict without violence is not only desirable but possible. It also requires a more thorough, scrupulous and honest examination of our society's attitude to violence and preparations for war.
