Our Work for Education for Peace

Our mission is to be a centre of research, teaching and related activities which will contribute to the deeper understanding and promotion of processes of peace and reconciliation throughout the world.

It is intended that the fruits of the work carried out at the Centre will empower those at the grass-roots, national and international levels who are striving to transform violent conflict situations by nonviolent means and lay the foundations for peace and reconciliation between the parties to conflict.

A basic premise informing the work at the Centre is that within the context of struggles to achieve peace and reconciliation at whatever level, the transformative power of nonviolence in such processes is not only under-estimated but also under-researched.

We run a variety of acdemic courses including an MA in Peace and Reconciliation Studies. This MA programme is now well-known internationally, and every year attracts well qualified applicants from the UK, other European countries, and from around the world.

It provides a thorough understanding of core issues in peace and reconciliation studies, conflict resolution, forgiveness, religion and peace, comparative peace processes; and introduces a wide range of other topics. Many participants are mid-career professionals, from, among other walks of life: NGOs and development agencies; military and civil service backgrounds; peace movements; politics; the media.

Coventry University (CPRS)

The centre runs a series of courses and applications are now being accepted for The Post Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution.
